Participant Guidelines
Participation
If you are interested in attending a meeting but have not received an invitation, please contact the workshop organizer before registering.
If you have received an invitation, please register and select your lodging as soon as possible to ensure access to affordable lodging.
Our invitation-only meetings are small, with an average of 23 people. Registration for conferences (larger meetings) will typically open on a first-come, first-served basis.
Payment for registration is required at the time of registration.
Telluride Science does not have meeting "guests" or "guest speakers." Anyone who enters a meeting for any portion of the meeting is considered a "participant" and will be charged a full registration fee. Registration fees cannot be discounted for shorter stays.
Participants will receive a link to request discounted lodging through Telluride Science in their workshop registration confirmation email. Payments may be made at the time of lodging confirmation or 60 days before the participant's arrival date. Telluride Science has negotiated discounted lodging rates for our participants. We can offer these tax-free, discounted rates by reserving and paying for blocks of rooms in advance.
Guidelines
Workshop participants are expected to support a friendly and inclusive environment conducive to open discussion and collaboration.
Payment for workshop participation is required upon registration. Advance payment for lodging is required either 60 days before the participant's arrival date or upon lodging confirmation if lodging is booked within 60 days of arrival.
Registrations may be refunded less a $25 cancellation fee. If cancelled before the lodging cancellation deadline, lodging payments are refundable less a $100 cancellation fee. It is each participant's responsibility to confirm and understand their own lodging cancellation deadline.
Telluride Science cannot refund late arrivals due to travel issues or early departures.
Travel Insurance: Telluride Science does not sell traveler's insurance, but we highly recommend that you buy it. This insurance is crucial if you are sharing lodging with other participants or have last-minute travel changes.

Travel
Travel Dates: Plan to arrive on the day before the meeting begins and depart no earlier than the afternoon of your workshop's last day.
Discounted lodging through Telluride Science for extended stays will be available for most dates, but unavailable on certain festival weekends.
Workshop Schedules are set by the organizers. Most workshops begin on Monday at 9:00am and finish by noon on Friday. Contact your organizer for specifics.

International Travelers
Telluride Science recommends applying early for your travel visa if you are required to have one.
If you are applying for a visa, a formal invitation from our Executive Director/CEO, Mark Kozak, may help. To request such a letter, please contact sara@telluridescience.org.
The U.S. State Department requires that consular officers interview almost every applicant. Some consulates may have a long wait for an interview and may be very slow in processing. Applicants should contact the consulate to schedule an interview as early as possible. Also, many visa applications are sent to the State Department in Washington, DC, to be reviewed by several agencies. Because of the number of visa applications and the policy of thorough security reviews, the process can be lengthy. It can take many months.

Failure to get a visa on time is not a basis for any lodging refunds beyond what is available according to our standard cancellation policy.
Code of Conduct
- Treat your fellow participants and Telluride Science staff with consideration and professionalism, respecting diversity of views and opinions.
- Communicate openly with civility for others, critiquing ideas rather than individuals.
- Be mindful of your surroundings and fellow participants. Anyone requested to stop unacceptable behavior is expected to comply immediately. Telluride Science staff may take any action deemed necessary and appropriate, including immediate removal from the meeting without warning or refund.
- Be kind and considerate of people in the Telluride community. You represent Telluride Science when you are in town.
